Role summary
This role involves working as a Theatre Practitioner ODP within the perioperative team, monitoring and maintaining policies and standards of care. The post holder will be anaesthetic and scrub trained, working across various theatre units. They will act as a role model, delivering specialist care to patients and contributing to staff development.
Key responsibilities
- Develop measurable patient care plans/goals including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Take charge of the clinical needs of a group of defined patients, prioritising workload.
- Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy and promote a clean environment.
- Respond positively to resolve problems for patients/carers and report all incidents/complaints.
- Assist with the smooth running of the clinical area by carrying out duties like unpacking stores and tidying equipment.
- Communicate effectively within the team and promote a positive image of the Trust.

Job summary
The post holder will work with the Theatre manager and multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing/HCPC care and staff development, as part of the perioperative team.The post holder will be anaesthetic and scrub trained and will be expected to work across Main Theatres, Surgical DCU, DCU Ward and the Theatre Receiving Unit as needed.As a Band 5 nurse/ODP you should act as a role model, showing evidence of the specialist skills and knowledge that will enable you to deliver prescribed treatment and care for patients in an individual and sensitive manner.
Main duties of the job
o In partnership with other professionals and disciplines, develop measurable patient care plans/goals. The process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to timely transfer or discharge.o Take charge of the clinical needs of a group of defined patients on the ward /department prioritising workload according to changing clinical need over a 24 period.o Work towards regularly taking charge of the ward/department on occasion prioritising workload according to changing clinical need over a 24 period.
