Role summary

This Staff Nurse role supports the expanding Endoscopy services at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, which operates over a 7-day period. The successful candidate will assist Endoscopists with procedures and ensure safe, effective nursing care delivery. The position involves supporting the day-to-day running of the Endoscopy Unit and contributing to service and staff development. The team is friendly, hardworking, multi-national, and JAG accredited, offering training and development opportunities.

  • Post qualification experience in relevant speciality
  • Hold / be working towards an NMC approved mentoring qualification
  • Ability to understand the role of a registered nurse
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Awareness of current professional nursing issues
  • Demonstrates understanding of the importance of audit/quality
  • Post registration experience working in an acute hospital setting
  • SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
  • Basic IT skills
  • Knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
  • Knowledge of care planning, preceptorship, reflection and clinical supervision
  • SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
  • Able to travel to other sites and off site as necessary

Job summary

The Endoscopy services at BHT are expanding, providing a service over a 7-day period to meet capacity demands and to improve patient experience. As such we are increasing our workforce to allow for this service development.

If you are a registered nurse who already has Endoscopy experience or you are someone who is willing to learn new skills and you are enthusiastic about supporting service and staff development for the benefit of patients, we would like to hear from you.

We are a JAG accredited Unit and encourage our staff to develop new skills by offering opportunities to attend training courses as well as supporting staff within the Unit providing both a clinical and competency based training programme.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be responsible for supporting the day to day running of the Endoscopy Unit.
  • The post holder will assist the Endoscopist with procedures/investigations and manipulation of intricate equipment after appropriate training.
