Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join UHDB as a Fire & Security Manager, leading fire safety and security services across diverse healthcare sites. The role involves providing strategic leadership and operational oversight, ensuring compliance with legislation and NHS guidance. You will work with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and promote a strong safety culture. The position requires cross-site working and accountability for contracted-out security services.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for fire safety management and security service contracts.
  • Ensure the Trust remains compliant with all relevant legislation, NHS guidance, and industry best practice.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong culture of safety and security.
  • Act as the Trust's senior specialist advisor on all fire and security matters.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor effective fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage contracted-out security services, ensuring effective contract management and performance monitoring.

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Fire Safety, Security Management, or related discipline
  • Management qualification (e.g. ILM Level 5/7, postgraduate qualification) or equivalent experience
  • NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with HTMs and NHS Fire code
  • Experience in a large, complex organisation (preferably NHS or public sector)
  • Full drivers licence and access to a vehicle to travel to all 5 sites

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
