Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly organised Clinical Trials Assistant to join the Research Team at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality clinical research studies and provide comprehensive administrative support for a portfolio of studies. The role involves working closely with research nurses, clinical practitioners, and sponsors to ensure studies meet Good Clinical Practice standards. The post holder will receive training and development opportunities in clinical research and governance.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate study documentation, investigator site files and trial records.
- Entering clinical trial data into paper and electronic case report forms.
- Organising and coordinating research appointments and clinics.
- Communicating with patients, carers and healthcare professionals regarding research appointments and non-clinical study information.
- Assisting with the set-up of new clinical trials and supporting ongoing studies.
- Liaising with trial coordinating centres, sponsors and external research organisations.
Essential criteria
- GCSE including Maths and English Grade 5 and above
- Office / Admin Experience
- Maintaining efficient paper and computerised office systems
- Organisation and prioritising tasks
- Data Input
- Team working
- Demonstrable IT Skills - including office packages
- Attention to detail
- Basic understanding of Health Research and importance in NHS

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly organised Clinical Trials Assistant to join the Research Team at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality clinical research studies across the Trust.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills who is interested in healthcare research and wishes to contribute to improving patient care through clinical trials. The post holder will work closely with research nurses, clinical practitioners, consultants, study sponsors and external organisations to ensure research studies are delivered to the highest standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
