Role summary
This role is for an experienced Children's Nurse to become a Team Lead for the Community Children's Nursing and Specialist School Nursing Team in East Berkshire. Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Community Children's Nursing and Specialist School Nursing Team.
- Deliver and oversee high-quality nursing care for children and young people with complex and long-term health needs.
- Manage a small clinical caseload and support staff with complex clinical decision-making.
- Provide management supervision and annual appraisals for team members.
- Lead workforce planning, rota coordination and management of staff absence.
- Deliver competency-based clinical training and assessments for families, school staff and healthcare professionals.

- Registered Children's Nurse
- Experience of continuous professional development
- Experience working with children with complex health needs
- Safeguarding knowledge and experience
- Community Children's Nursing experience
- Ability to use own initiative, work independently and autonomously and prioritise workload
- Effective time management skills
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Ability to demonstrate high level communication skills dealing with complex situations that arise within the community setting and outside agencies
- Able to communicate effectively with CYP, including non-verbal communication
- Wide range of nursing skills, knowledge and experience, including care of tracheostomies, enteral feeding devices and epilepsy
- Approachable, confident, empathetic, trustworthy, passionate about delivery of high-quality nursing care
- Ability to assist and motivate others
- Good understanding of IT skills and able to use electronic clinical records systems
- To work effectively as a team member
- UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Ability to travel across site as workload required
Desirable criteria
- Specialist Community Children's Qualification (SPQ recorded)
- Leadership/ Management qualification
- Training clinical skills to staff/parents
- Experience of working with children and families within the palliative and end of life stages
- Previous experience managing a team
