Role summary
This role is for a motivated and patient-focused Cardiographer to join the Cardiac Physiology team at Dorset County Hospital. You will support high-quality cardiac diagnostic services, including ECGs, ambulatory ECG monitoring, and blood pressure monitoring. Essential criteria
- General education to GCSE standard or equivalent, including English and Maths
- Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST) Electrocardiogram (ECG) Certificate or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or willingness to undertake in the first month in post
- Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST) Electrocardiogram (ECG) Diploma or willingness to undertake
- Knowledge & Experience
- Competent Experience or Knowledge of in recording ECG
- Recent & relevant experience in a patient-facing healthcare environment
- An understanding the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained
- Proven Understanding of specialist healthcare science activities
- Experience of working computer software such as Microsoft Office, digital patient records systems etc. willingness to train in Cardiology digital Platform Solus
- Experience of working with staff at all levels
- Experience of communicating with patients of varying age, capacity and communication and understanding limitations.
- Skills & Abilities
- Evidence of effective communication skills both written and oral
- Working knowledge of healthcare IT systems such as Digital Patient Records is desirable but full training will be provided.
- Excellent verbal and written and IT skills
- Good listening skills with an ability to present information in a logical manner
- Continue developing practical skills and underpinning clinical knowledge.
- Evidence of ability to input patient data accurately and timely
- Positive and self-motivated to the development of new skills
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently and as part of a team
- Proven Understanding of specialist healthcare science activities
- Good time management with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate empathy when dealing with patients in distressing situations.

Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and patient-focused Cardiographer to join our friendly Cardiac Physiology team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This role is essential in supporting the delivery of high-quality cardiac diagnostic services, including ECGs, ambulatory ECG monitoring, and blood pressure monitoring.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the timely diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease, helping to maintain service capacity, reduce waiting times, and support excellent patient care. Main duties of the job
The post holder will perform a range of cardiac diagnostic investigations, including 12-lead ECGs, ambulatory ECG monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Based primarily at Dorset County Hospital, the role may also support the delivery of community-based diagnostic services as required. The post holder will provide high-quality patient care, ensure accurate data collection and reporting, maintain diagnostic equipment, and work closely with the wider Cardiac Physiology and multidisciplinary teams to support timely diagnosis
