Role summary
This role involves supporting the digital team in providing comprehensive performance and information services. The Senior Information Analyst will offer analytical and technical expertise in data analysis, interpretation, and presentation. They will lead on specific service areas, including modelling and data visualisation, and work with various partners to meet information needs. The post is fixed-term until March 2028 due to funding.
Essential criteria
- Educated to post graduate diploma in a quantitative science which has included data analysis/presentation and management of large datasets, or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training and development
- Operational research experience including quantitative and qualitative data
- Significant experience within an information environment
- Operational research experience including quantitative and qualitative data
- Statistics experience
- Experience in the use of MS Office Software (particularly excel) and other statistical packages
- Business analysis of data and project implementation including performance dashboards
- Experience of partnership working across different organisations.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of software development and/or testing
- Advanced analytical skills
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a format suitable for a range of target audiences
- Technically skilled in the use of statistical packages/databases/ performance dashboards.
- Technically skilled in the use of SQL
- Experienced in the use of Business Intelligence Tools
- Experienced in the use of relational databases
- Ability to undertake research and to teach oneself new skills in new disciplines
- Ability to work across organisational boundaries
- Understanding of health and social care policy context
- Knowledge of health and social care informatics and performance frameworks
- Skilled in the use of Power BI Reporting
- Special Knowledge
- Detailed knowledge of health and social care of informatics i.e. the use and interpretation of information to support health and social care delivery
- Knowledge of the key requirements of 'A Healthier Wales' and the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014
- Competent in modelling and the application of numerous techniques to solve problems of varying degrees of complexity and size
- Ability to interrogate numerous large datasets, joining data and interpreting the results
- Technical understanding and competence of NHS Data Dictionary, local authority statutory performance indicators, national standards and data flows
- Competent in the knowledge and application of the Data Protection Act
- Experience of SPSS, JMP, Healthcare Modelling technical abilities
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems such as ICD10, OPCS, READ, SNOMED

To work as part of the digital team in supporting the development and provision of a comprehensive performance and information service, providing analytical and technical expertise in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex data.
The post holder will have specific service areas for which they will take lead responsibility and which includes modelling and data visualisation.

Define, collate, analyse and interpret complex, sensitive and contentious information, often from across a range of organisations, to a high standard, and to actively facilitate the use and understanding of the information provided across a range of partners and stakeholders. This will include negotiating, persuading and training colleagues to ensure accurate and consistent datasets.
Work closely with project leads/managers and clinicians to identify their information needs and to analyse and provide information to support them in the delivery of health and social care planning and decision making.
