Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Biochemistry department within the South of Tyne Pathology Service. The role involves working across three hospital sites, providing high-quality specialist diagnostic services. The successful candidate will develop knowledge and skills in various diagnostic techniques and participate in extended working days and out-of-hours services.
Key responsibilities
- Further develop knowledge and skills in a range of specialist diagnostic techniques within the Biochemistry department.
- Fully participate in the relevant Department's extended working day.
- Rotate across all three laboratory sites.
- Participate in the out of hours service following suitable training.
Essential criteria
- IBMS Accredited BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
- HCPC Registration
- Previous NHS Laboratory Experience
Desirable criteria
- MSc in Biomedical Sciences
- Experience of highly specialised laboratory techniques
- Experience in NHS Biochemistry Laboratory

Job summary
The South of Tyne Pathology Service is an established consolidated network with laboratories across three sites, servicing both Gateshead and South Tyneside/Sunderland trusts.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Biochemistry department for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist position to work across the three hospital sites. Please ensure you detail how you meet the personal specification in your application. Applicants with an accredited biomedical sciences degree but not registered with the HCPC may be considered if they meet the other criteria specified in the personal specification.

Main duties of the job
The clinical laboratory team provides a High Quality Specialist Diagnostic Service to improve the Health Care of the people of South of Tyne and Wear.
As part of the team the post holder will be expected to further develop knowledge and skills in a range of specialist diagnostic techniques within the Biochemistry department.
