Key responsibilities
- Be flexible to work across two sites: Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital.
- Develop specialist skills and knowledge within the nursing oncology field.
- Ensure effective operational management of outpatient clinics, monitoring and improving standards.
- Respond to patients, relatives, and carers' concerns, taking remedial action as required.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.
Essential criteria
- NMC Registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Sufficient post registration nursing experience required to be able to perform the role
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Competency in medication administration

- Qualification or experience in teaching and assessing.
- Previous experience in outpatients area
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse to join our dedicated oncology nursing team in the Oncology Outpatients Clinics at Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital.
The Oncology Outpatient Clinics see a wide variety of patients with different types of cancer. This includes gastrointestinal (upper and lower), breast, hepato-pancreatico-biliary, endocrine, gynaecological, lung, brain, urological malignancies and GTD.
In this pivotal role, you will deliver expert, patient-centred care to patients, ensuring the highest standards of practice in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code and Trust guidelines.
This role includes supporting the smooth running of the clinics and undertaking specialist nursing procedures such as post surgery wound care, administration of injections and working in the phlebotomy room undertaking venepuncture, cannulation and CVAD care.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse who is passionate about oncology care and has an interest in Outpatient Nursing. They should be enthusiastic, hardworking, kind and compassionate and should be able to work well independently and as part of a team.
