Role summary
This role is for an experienced, SVT-accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist to join the Jackie Walton Vascular Studies Unit at John Radcliffe Hospital. You will independently perform, interpret, and report complex vascular ultrasound investigations, providing expert clinical advice and contributing to MDT discussions. The position involves supporting trainee scientists, contributing to research and service development, and offers opportunities for leadership growth. You will work autonomously, communicating complex findings and demonstrating excellent clinical judgment.
Essential criteria
- First Level Degree in relevant science subject
- Fully accredited vascular scientist (AVS) by the CSVS
- Experience Teaching / mentoring
- Demonstrable significant specialist experience post accreditation
Desirable criteria
- Doctorate with experience in vascular ultrasound
- Managerial qualification e.g DMS
- Project management experience

Job summary
Are you an experienced, SVT-accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist seeking your next challenge in a nationally recognised vascular service? Join the Jackie Walton Vascular Studies Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, and help deliver specialist vascular diagnostics across the Thames Valley.
As a Band 7 Clinical Vascular Scientist, you will independently perform, interpret and report a broad range of complex vascular ultrasound investigations, using advanced duplex ultrasound and other diagnostic modalities to support diagnosis and management. You will provide expert clinical advice, contribute to MDT discussions and help shape patient care pathways.
Alongside clinical practice, you will develop through audit, quality improvement, research, innovation, teaching and service development. Oxford offers opportunities to contribute to research, publications and funding applications, and to support service improvements.
You will work closely with vascular surgeons, radiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team, while supporting trainee Clinical Vascular Scientists and other healthcare professionals. The role offers opportunities to develop leadership skills and progress towards senior roles.
