Essential criteria

  • Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Member of the CSP or equivalent professional liability insurance
  • Evidence of up-to-date, relevant CPD
  • Relevant postgraduate learning or equivalent specialist development
  • Extensive post-registration MSK physiotherapy experience
  • Demonstrable specialist knowledge and experience in assessment and management of complex MSK presentations
  • Experience of supervising, coaching and mentoring others
  • Experience of supporting or delivering clinical education and in-service training
  • Experience of audit, service evaluation or quality improvement
  • Ability to apply advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to support safe clinical decision making
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical risk assessment, safeguarding principles and risk management
  • Knowledge of primary care, community services and wider patient pathways

Desirable criteria

  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards Masters level study
  • Membership of a relevant special interest group
  • Leadership, supervision or management training
  • Experience of extended scope or advanced practice within MSK services
  • Involvement in research activity
  • Experience of developing clinical pathways, protocols or competency frameworks
