Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse with an interest in supporting people with a learning disability to join the Diamond Activity and Therapeutic Services team in Doncaster. You will deliver person-centred care, participate in therapeutic activities, and ensure client well-being. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible attitude, working within core hours of Monday-Friday, 08:30-16:30.

Key responsibilities

  • Actively participate in therapeutic & activity sessions; be responsible for Day-to-Day running of service.
  • Participate in assessment, planning & delivery of personalised care, meeting personal hygiene and nutritional needs of clients.
  • Ensure the clients personal information is always treated with the strictest of confidence.
  • Assist in promoting a healthy lifestyle, respecting the service user's choices and beliefs, promoting dignity, respect, and privacy.
  • Protect all individuals from any form of abuse, and bring any suspected abuse to the attention of the Trust.
  • Be alert of any changes in clients i.e. in health or behaviour to ensure appropriate interventions are undertaken.

Essential criteria

  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD Experience)
  • Knowledge of up-to-date legislation in relation to mental capacity act.
  • Awareness of therapeutic activities and the benefits to people with complex needs
  • Skilled in assessing and planning care for people
  • Ability to contribute towards the planning, developing, monitoring and evaluating of all aspects of the service delivery.

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to adhere to policies pertaining to Diamond centre
  • Ability to form and promote positive relationships internal and external partners
  • Post registration experience
  • Experience in a variety of care and support settings for people with learning disabilities
  • Experience of supporting people with multiple complex needs

Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for someone with an interest in supporting people with a learning disability to join the team at the Diamond Activity and Therapeutic Services in Doncaster.

You will work alongside senior staff & be supported to deliver person centred care in accordance with support plans & agreed activities.

Diamond Activity & Therapeutic Services is part of the larger Learning Disability Service in Doncaster and works closely with the staff in our community learning disability teams.

Essential - successful candidates will be A Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities) an able to show a genuine interest in working with people with a learning disability. Excellent interpersonal skills will be required to communicate with a range of professionals, services, clients & carers. A flexible attitude is imperative, as well as an understanding of person-centred care and treating clients with dignity. We offer the opportunity to work within a supportive organisation, to develop a variety of clinical skills & experience. You will be fully supported in your role having the opportunity to access continuous professional development.

The current core hours of service operation are Monday - Friday between the hours of 0830-1630.
