Role summary
This is an apprenticeship training role for a Trainee Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner within Adult Community Mental Health Services in Croydon. The successful candidate will study at University College London and deliver psychologically informed interventions to adults with severe mental health problems. The role involves general case management and working under close clinical supervision to provide wellbeing-focused interventions. Upon successful completion of the one-year fixed-term training, candidates can seek accreditation and apply for a qualified Band 5 MHWP post.
Essential criteria
- Batchelors degree at 2:1 in any subject
- Enrolled/willingness to enrol on a programme of study for a postgraduate certificate (Level 7) delivering the national curriculum for mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners (Adult Specialist Mental Health)
- Meets criteria for NHSE to fund training (home student status)
- Experience of work interacting with the public
- Experience working as part of a team
- Experience of analysing and communicating complex information verbally and in writing

- Knowledge / Skills
- Assessment and formulation with client group including of risk
- Psychological interventions with client group
- Conditions and secondary care context of care planning

Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Community Mental Health Teams in Croydon as a Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner. This is Apprenticeship Training Role within Adult Community Mental Health Services and the successful candidates will be expected to study at University College London.
The post is a one-year fixed term appointment. If the training programme is completed successfully candidates will be able to seek accreditation status through the BPS or BABCP and be eligible to apply for a qualified Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner Post at a Band 5 level.
This role will contribute to ensuring adults with severe mental health problems have greater access to psychologically informed interventions.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside service users, families, carers and multi-disciplinary team members to co-ordinate care, supporting collaborative decision-making about care and treatment.
