Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 registered learning disability nurse to join the LD CAMHS community teams, working across North and South community teams, as well as the PBS+ and IPBS teams. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of patients, provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The role requires a highly motivated nurse with knowledge of the PBS pathway, patient-centred care, and excellent assessment and risk management skills.
Key responsibilities
- Work between LD North and South community teams, PBS+ and IPBS team.
- Manage a caseload of patients covering Durham & Darlington for children and young people requiring support through the PBS Pathway.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to staff to understand complex presentations and develop understanding of young person's needs.
- Work collaboratively with wider CAMHS services and partner agencies, providing direct assessment and understanding of a child/young person's needs.
- Develop working hypothesis' and understanding of formulation of distress behaviours.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior members of the community team.
Essential criteria
- Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RNMH / RNLD/ (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
- Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor

- Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses, Module (20 credit) at level 7 For example Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions,
- And have Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent
- Demonstrate clinical history taking and assessment skills in order to provide nurse led diagnosis and treatment planning
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and motivational skills
- Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field
- Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
- Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
- Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Quality improvement activities
- Inter-agency and partnership working
Desirable criteria
- Specialist knowledge of working within a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency community team setting.
- Experience of working within a range of services, including inpatient and community settings.

Job summary

We are looking to employ a highly motivated learning disability nurse with drive and enthusiasm in this field of nursing.
