Role summary
This role involves leading and delivering student placements for undergraduate pharmacy students at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, focusing on active pharmacist decision-making and prescribing. The post holder will supervise students on wards, develop teaching materials, and contribute to clinical audit and quality improvement projects. They will also maintain their clinical skills by working within a clinical specialty when not supervising students, and contribute to the department's operational workload.

- UK-registered pharmacist (GPhC)

- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence as demonstrated in a practice portfolio of evidence
- Clinical Diploma / Clinical Masters
- Registered with the GPhc as an independent prescriber

Job summary
The Pharmacy Department within The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has undergone significant expansion and transformation over the past 18 months and this development continues with the creation of two new posts designed to lead and deliver the student placements at the Royal Victoria Infirmary for the year 3 undergraduate students from Newcastle University School of Pharmacy.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious pharmacist with experience of working in a hospital pharmacy to join our clinical education and training team. The posts will be managed by our new lead Pharmacist for Education and Training. The Trust has hosted undergraduate placements of pharmacy students since the School of Pharmacy opened at Newcastle University. The placements have been set up and run by our fantastic clinical technician team, who will continue to run the year 1 placements.
