Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic and organised Clinical Audit Officer to join the Clinical Audit Team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. The post holder will support clinical audit activity and quality improvement initiatives across the Health Board. It involves providing administrative support for various projects, working with databases and spreadsheets, and collaborating with senior staff to ensure quality improvement. Training and support are provided, but some previous knowledge of clinical audit is essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote and support clinical audit activity throughout the Health Board.
  • Play a key role in driving improvements in quality and patient care.
  • Provide administrative support for a large variety of projects.
  • Work with senior staff to support clinicians in quality improvement efforts.
  • Utilise practical knowledge and experience of working with databases, spreadsheets and other software.

Essential criteria

  • Level 3 qualification (e.g. A Levels, AS Levels, NVQ3) or equivalent demonstrable experience of administrative / office skills and knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Audit, Clinical Governance, Quality Improvement or similar activities.
  • Experience of working within an administrative setting
  • Experience of working with database and spreadsheet information systems
  • Experience of data analysis and interpretation skills, including the production of written reports
  • Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner and to external venues

Desirable criteria

  • "Improving Quality Together" at Bronze level
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance, NICE and HQIP
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience of working within a Clinical Audit, Clinical Effectiveness or Governance department
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Experience of delivering training
  • Experience of in- house IT systems (AMaT, WPAS etc.)
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)

Job summary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking and organised individual to be a part of the Clinical Audit Team.

You will become a core member of staff within a friendly and supportive Team, enabling the promotion and support of clinical audit activity throughout the Health Board. The Post Holder will play a key role in helping the organisation drive forward improvements in quality and the care that our patients receive.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to be self-motivated and hard working with a readiness to learn about the role of the Clinical Audit Department and wider quality agenda. Previous experience of working within an administrative, secretarial or similar role will provide you with a firm foundation, although knowledge and skills from other areas are welcome additions to our diverse team.
