Role summary
This is a senior Nurse Practitioner role specialising in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT). The successful candidate will support, educate, and develop staff nurses in SACT administration within oncology/haematology day units. The role involves leading education and training, providing direct clinical supervision, and working clinically across two sites in Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital. Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (appropriate to branch)
- Current NMC registration
- Diploma plus specialist qualifications / experience within specialist area; prepared to take degree level study
- Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council standards for student supervision and assessment (formally Mentorship) if relevant to role
- Recognised specialist qualification in SACT administration
Desirable criteria
- Degree in health-related subject
- Working towards or educated to Master's level
- Clinical Skills Course or willingness to undertake
- Non-medical authoriser of blood products competence or willingness to undertake
- Non-Medical prescribing if relevant to role
- IRMER competence or willingness to undertake
- Knowledge & Experience
- Some post registration experience within related specialist area of practice
- Extended clinical practice underpinned by training and assessment e.g., venepuncture, cannulation skills and intravenous drug administration
- Audit / research experience
- Evidence of on-going continuous professional development
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project specific policy context
- Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding
- Research or audit experience
- Evidence of contribution to education programmes and / or training

- Competent in extended clinical skills (such as Bone Marrow Biopsy)

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SACT Nurse to progress into a role of a Nurse Practitioner - Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT). This role is a senior position working clinically within SACT day units to support, educate and develop staff nurses within the role.
You will be expected to lead on education and training , supporting new staff and existing staff to enhance their knowledge within the speciality of Oncology/Haematology and more specifically in SACT administration.
The successful candidate will be expected to work between the SACT Day unit in NCCC- Carlisle and Henderson Suite, West Cumberland Hospital. Both units operate Monday-Friday 0800-1830.
