Role summary
This role involves assisting registered practitioners in the Ophthalmology Day Surgery Unit, caring for adult and paediatric patients before, during, and after operations. Key responsibilities
- Assist registered practitioners in looking after adult and paediatric patients before, during and after their operation.
- Set up and move different types of equipment, including heavy theatre trays.
- Move patients on trolleys, wheelchairs to ensure an effective and efficient service.
- Perform circulating duties within the theatre.
- Set up Theatres for both elective & some emergency procedures.
Essential criteria
- Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject OR equivalent experience
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Flexible in working hours
- Ability to follow procedures/policies
- Awareness of limitations of practice
- Ability to demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach
- Ability to keep calm in stressful situations
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 qualification in Perioperative Support / or equivalent qualification
- Theatre/Ward experience
- Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our busy team within Ophthalmology Day Surgery Unit, as part of Theatre Services. It will be possible to work full time or part time hours. This can be discussed at interview . This Vacancy is available for both novice and experienced Support Workers as specific in house training will be provided.
This is a permanent post.

This post will involve circulating duties as well as setting up Theatres for both elective & some emergency procedures including but not limited to moving different types of equipment, instrument trays and patients on wheelchairs and trolleys. This is a physically and mentally demanding job and the successful candidate will have to prove they can be adaptable to keep up with this ever changing environment.
