Role summary
This role is for an experienced Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join the Neonatal Follow-Up Service. You will provide expert assessment and intervention for infants with complex neonatal presentations, using highly specialised clinical reasoning. The position involves delivering advanced occupational therapy interventions and advice to infants, families, and carers, ensuring high-quality, family-centred care. You will also develop and deliver neonatal follow-up occupational therapy services across the Health Board, acting as a specialist resource and mentor for colleagues.
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC Registration.
- MSc or equivalent level of specialist knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge of standardised and non-standardised assessments that can be used with client group.
- Evidence of relevant, specialised post graduate courses/CPD.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of relevant special interest group.
- Leadership qualification
- Experience at professional grade equivalent.
- Teaching qualification.
- Extensive experience working within the field of paediatric Occupational Therapy.
- Managing a complex caseload.
- Experience of audit/ research (clinical and organisational).
- Inter-professional and multi-agency team working.
- Clinical service development and compliance with governance requirements and guidelines.
- Experience of working alongside Paediatric Consultants or similar.
- Experience of working with Neonatal Follow-Up.
- Leadership and representation in clinical networks/practice groups
- Experience of teaching at post graduate level.
- Aptitude and Abilitites
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, nonverbal and written).
- Ability to use highly specialised clinical reasoning skills to determine differential diagnosis, independent of other Practitioners, in an expert area of practice.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a team environment.
- The physical ability to perform and cope with all aspects of manual handling and equipment fitting
- Welsh Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above

- Ability to work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team.
