Role summary
This role is for a skilled and dedicated Paediatric Liaison Nurse to strategically develop and operationally deliver safeguarding initiatives across The Countess of Chester Hospital Trust. The post holder will establish effective referral pathways and communication between hospital services, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Social Care, and other community professionals. They will provide expert guidance on safeguarding children, young people, and unborn children, ensuring their safety and welfare in line with national standards. The role involves supporting staff, managing information, and contributing to training and governance.
Essential criteria
- RGN or equivalent qualification
- Degree or working towards
- Post-registration qualification or evidence of further study.
- Evidence of on-going professional development

- Teaching and assessing qualification
- Qualification in Safeguarding Adults/Children
- Knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of national and local safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and policy.
- Knowledge of patterns of abuse and neglect
- Verbal and written presentation skills
- Knowledge of the national domestic abuse/safeguarding agenda
- Post registration experience working in the children's safeguarding arena
- Knowledge of the "Think family" approach to safeguarding
- IT Skills
- Experience of working with safeguarding adults procedures
- Experience of partnership working
- Experience of participation in safeguarding meetings
- Skills and abilities
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Resilience/ability to remain calm under pressure
- Good IT skills, word and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate across organisational boundaries
- Experience of audit and report
- Experience to have difficult conversations
- IT skills relating to PowerPoint, excel and publisher

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a skilled and dedicated Nurse to fulfil the role of the Paediatric Liaison Nurse. This pivotal role plays a key part in the strategic development and operational delivery of safeguarding initiatives across The Countess of Chester Hospital Trust.The post holder will work to establish and promote effective referral pathways and communication between hospital services, including the Countess of Chester, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Social Care and other community professionals as needed. Acting as a professional resource, the role will facilitate strong links between acute, community, and primary care services, ensuring seamless communication across wards, outpatients, A&E, and maternity departments.The post holder will collaborate closely with the Named Professionals and Safeguarding Children team, providing expert guidance on safeguarding children. They will ensure the safety and welfare of children, young people, and unborn children who interact with the Trust's services, including those of adult patients where safeguarding concerns are identified. This work will be in line with the Department of Health's 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' (2023
