Role summary
This is a permanent development post for a Clinical Psychologist to work with older adults in Flintshire. The role involves providing specialist clinical input to the Memory Assessment Service MDT and the Older People's Community Mental Health Team. Duties include delivering individual and group psychological therapies, neuropsychological assessment, and providing consultation to multi-disciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be supported to progress from Band 7 to 8a.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical input and support to the Memory Assessment Service MDT and Older People's Community Mental Health Team.
- Deliver tailored individual and group psychological therapies to an Older Adult clinical population.
- Undertake specialist neuropsychological assessment and formulation, and pre- and post-diagnostic support and intervention.
- Work through others by training, supervision, and formulation work.
- Integrate and form good working relationships with multi-disciplinary colleagues, providing specialist psychological knowledge, expertise and consultation.
- Attend clinical MDT meetings, team referral meetings and service-wide business meetings.
Essential criteria
- Honours Degree in Psychology
- Eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Post-graduate Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or for those trained overseas), as accredited by the British Psychological Society
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Desirable criteria
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
- Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, normally including significant post-qualification experience within the designated speciality where the post is located (band 8a), or relevant transferable skills
- Demonstration of further specialist training / experience through having received extensive and demonstrable clinical supervision of working as a clinical psychologist or an alternative agreed by the Head of Clinical Psychology Services
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision

The BCUHB Older Adult Clinical Psychology Service is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced band 8a Clinical Psychologist, or band 7 Clinical Psychologist, as part of fully supported development post. The post is to be based and work in the county of Flintshire (Wepre House, Connah's Quay).
This is a very exciting opportunity to join a well-established department, with excellent clinical and research links with the School of Psychology and the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) Department at the University of Wales, Bangor. The BCUHB Older Adult Psychology department consists of a friendly and supportive team of colleagues spread out across North Wales but with excellent ongoing peer support and supervision, where the successful candidate will be well supported, mentored, and provided with further opportunities for training and advancement.
