Role summary
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within Stockport NHS Foundation Trust's Children's Speech and Language Therapy team. The role involves working with children across various settings, including special and mainstream schools, supporting them at universal, targeted, and specialist levels. The successful candidate will provide an excellent service to young people in Stockport, potentially covering a range of needs and ages. Both permanent and fixed-term positions are available, with opportunities for B5 therapists to progress to B6.
Essential criteria
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate messages effectively
- Ability to travel independently and efficiently across multiple community sites to meet the operational requirements of the role
- Ability to develop relationships with awareness of inter-personal skills and use of any strategies required to support this
- Demonstrates Telephone communication adaptability and IT skills
- Demonstrates organisation skills and strategies to reduce stress in pressured situation
- Awareness of trust policies & procedures, up-to-date in current issues around professional practice and evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrates problem solving skills and ability to keep accurate and legible patient notes

- Ability to supervise other practitioners
- Competent presentation skills.
- Ability to run internal/external courses.
- Evidence of participation in research.
- Experience of working as part of a children's therapy team and multidisciplinary team.

- Demonstrates an understanding the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Demonstrates knowledge of working in community therapy services and paediatric services
- Demonstrates knowledge of legislation relating to children, e.g. SEND, safeguarding
- Demonstrates knowledge in a specific area of interest

5 days, term time only role working as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. Opportunities may be available across a wide range of settings including special schools, mainstream schools.
This position may involve working across a range of needs and ages, supporting children and their families at universal, targeted and specialist levels through the Balanced System approach. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, committed and dynamic speech and language therapists who will provide an excellent service to the young people of Stockport.
Fixed term contracts as well as permanent positions may be available.
Whilst this role is a B6 position, B5 therapists may apply and the role may be offered as a B5-B6 progression post if appropriate.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will hold a Degree/Masters level qualification or equivalent and be a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. They will also be registered as a Speech and Language The
