Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join the clinical pharmacy team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will ensure safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines, supporting high-quality patient care through accurate medicines reconciliation and improving medicines safety. The position involves working closely with pharmacists, nursing staff, prescribers, and wider clinical teams to optimize medicines and enhance patient experience.
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired through training, NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent
- Additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions, supervising a technical area within the pharmacy to degree or equivalent level
- Knowledge of medicines management, including relevant legislation and policies acquired through NVQ3 or BTEC equivalent level qualification plus specialist training and experience to degree or equivalent level
- Working within a team
- Managing own workload to meet the needs of a service
- Knowledge of dispensary procedures acquired through training & experience
- Working with Pharmacy computer systems
- Previous experience of training others
Desirable criteria
- Working in a busy Dispensary
- In-depth post qualification experience in a hospital pharmacy
- Educational supervisor experience
