Role summary

This role involves providing 24-hour emergency electrical and mechanical engineering, and building maintenance services at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. The post holder will maintain complex systems, plant, and equipment, including steam raising plant, air conditioning, and LV systems. They will also respond to emergency situations, participate in the Trust Fire and Chemical Incident Teams, and ensure essential services are maintained.

Essential criteria

  • Ability to interpret detailed reports / instructions/ drawings. Capable writing reports, collating data, and presenting statistically analysed information.

  • Has interpersonal and presentation skills.

The Estates Shift Team is responsible for providing 24-hour on-site emergency cover and a comprehensive electrical and mechanical engineering, and building maintenance service, to the plant and equipment on the Blackpool Victoria Hospital Site. This will involve working with trade groups and contractors' staff to provide a professional, efficient and cost-effective maintenance, repair and installation service, which is responsive to the user's needs and will involve the planning and organising of maintenance activities. Out of normal working hours the Estates Shift Team has sole responsibility for ensuring that all departments essential services are maintained at all times, or an Estates Manager informed. These services include: Electricity, Steam, Heating and Domestic Hot and Cold water, Piped Medical Gas and Vacuum, Air Conditioning and Drainage.
