Role summary
This is an 18-month part-time secondment opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Richmond Community Neuro Rehabilitation service. The role involves providing comprehensive multi-disciplinary rehabilitation to neurologically impaired adults in the community, primarily through home visits and some out-patient clinics. The successful candidate will perform skilled OT assessments, deliver evidence-based treatment programmes, and work autonomously within a supportive team.
Essential criteria
- Degree/ diploma in OT and HCPC registered
- Membership of RCOT
- Knowledge and Experience
- Post-graduate experience in physical rehabilitation, management of neurological conditions, care of the elderly, falls, orthopaedics, etc
- Experience of core skills in physical rehabilitation including therapeutic handling, use of outcome measures, goal setting
- Knowledge and experience of OT assessments and interventions
- Experience working as part of an OT team and/or multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in the use of evidence-based practice in the clinical setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supervising therapy assistants or junior staff
- Skills and Abilities
- Able to work collaboratively with the MDT
- To work as an autonomous practitioner
- Able to present information - written and orally - in a clear, logical manner
- Able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues of all ages and abilities
- Able to supervise and support junior staff, non-qualified staff and students.
- Personal Attributes
- Able to work as a team member, being flexible, reliable and committed, confident and self-motivated
- Excellent interpersonal skills - incl observation, listening and empathy skills, sensitivity and tact
- Able to problem solve and use initiative

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 (or experienced band 5) Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Richmond Community Neuro Rehabilitation service (CNRT) which includes the Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team. The post is a part-time secondment: 2 days (15 hours) a week for an initial 18 months, with the possibility to extend.
You will join a team of experienced Occupational Therapists providing a comprehensive multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programme to neurologically impaired adults in the community.
Appointments are mainly home visits with some out-patient clinics, therefore a car owner/driver is recommended.
Main duties of the job

To perform skilled OT assessment of patients including complex physical and psychological conditions.
To provide evidence-based treatment programmes, guided by patient orientated goal setting, whilst liaising with the multidisciplinary team.
To deliver and progress these individualised treatment programmes and provide advice to family and carers.
To provide a high standard OT service, working autonomously with supervision and support, and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
