Role summary
This role is for a Bank Mobile Chef to work on a flexible, 'as and when' basis, primarily at Wathwood Hospital, with potential shifts at other sites. The main responsibility is to provide patient meals, ensuring quality and food safety in line with hygiene legislation. The successful candidate will also assist with menu information and dietary requirements, acting as a contact point between catering and wards. Previous experience in a busy catering environment and a catering qualification are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Provide patient meals by undertaking specific outlined and approved processes and procedures.
- Ensure the quality and food safety of meals at service are safe and appropriate and within the guidelines of food hygiene legislation.
- Ensure compliance with the Catering [contact details removed], Trust policies and procedures and to the Food Safety Act and Food Hygiene Regulations.
- Provide assistance and information as required around the patient meals and menus.
- Provide a point of contact between the catering provision and the wards to identify any issues or specific dietary requirements including allergen information.
Essential criteria
- Recognised Catering and Support Services Qualification
Desirable criteria
- City & Guilds 706/1 or equivalent (NVQ/Apprenticeship Level 2)
- Experience as a qualified chef
- Ability to cook small and large quantities including special diets
- Experience in quality monitoring and of food production
- Experience in staff supervision of catering services
- Experience in producing menus/special diets
- Experience in ordering supplies
- Evidence of Working Knowledge
- Knowledge of relevant NHS procedures and practices, including legal requirements
- Good communication skills
- Accurately complete documentation
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Computer literate
- Training
- Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
- Health & Safety Workplace Certificate
- City & Guilds 706/2 or equivalent (NVQ/ Apprenticeship Level 3)

Job summary
We are looking for a mobile chef to join our Facilities Bank to work on a flexible basis on an 'as and when' basis when shifts become available, based primarily at Wathwood Hospital but shifts may also be available at other sites.
