Role summary

This is a Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist secondment opportunity at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Hospital. The role involves providing clinical expertise, managing a caseload, and leading service developments within the Occupational Therapy service. You will supervise junior staff and contribute to multidisciplinary teams, focusing on high-quality, person-centred care. Key responsibilities

  • Provide clinical expertise as part of the Multi-disciplinary Team providing Occupational Therapy input into Assessment and Treatment Services.
  • Hold a clinical caseload and influence the Occupational Therapy service, delivery and development.
  • Lead on Occupational Therapy service developments in line with Trust priorities and timescales.
  • Provide leadership and clinical education for senior, junior and support staff through supervision and day-to-day support.
  • Manage a caseload of clients with varied and highly complex needs, using evidence-based clinical reasoning.
  • Plan and implement training at a uni-disciplinary and multi-professional level to enhance services.

Essential criteria

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • State registered with Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Post Graduate training relevant to specialist area
  • Practice placement qualification
  • Extensive post registration experience as an Occupational Therapist including substantial experience in a specialist Senior Occupational Therapist role
  • Experience and working understanding of audit procedures.
  • Extensive postgraduate training relevant to specialised area and/or in-depth experience
  • Evidence of highly specialist clinical skills and knowledge
  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role

  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
