Role summary
This role is for a Band 4 Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Assistant within the Physiotherapy team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. The post involves supporting physiotherapists in outpatient clinics, assisting with and running exercise classes, and performing administrative duties. The successful candidate will provide high standards of physiotherapy input and quality care to MSK patients across Walsall. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Essential criteria
- Foundation degree Health and Social Care, or equivalent level 5 qualification; plus, A-levels and GCSEs or equivalent(s), including Functional Skills (level 2). Or - the ability to commence a level 5 apprenticeship, such as the Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship, within 6 months of recruitment. Or - equivalent clinical experience (portfolio of evidence required).

- Knowledge and Experience
- oHave an understanding of holistic care for the patient.
- oAbility to deliver patient centred care.
- oAble to provide compassionate care to patients with a range of health care conditions.
- oAbility to move and handle patients safely.
- oGood IT skills
- oGood understanding of NHS structure and Trust values
Desirable criteria
- oPrevious experience in healthcare working with people with a range of health needs.
- oTo have an understanding and knowledge of Physiotherapy practice and be able to support this accordingly.
- oTo have extended experience as a therapy support worker working in health or similar post.
- Skills and Aptitudes
- oEffective communication skills (written, verbal and non- verbal)
- oExcellent Organisational skills
- oAble to work within the MDT
- oCommunicate with patients, relatives, carers, staff members to ensure safe and effective care.

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Assistant to join the Physiotherapy team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. The role involves supporting physiotherapists with outpatient clinics, helping to conduct and run a variety of exercise classes, as well as admin duties.PLEASE NOTE, WE MAY CLOSE THIS VACANCY EARLY IF WE RECEIVE HIGH NUMBERS OF APPLICATIONS.
Main duties of the job
- In conjunction with the Physiotherapists, to provide high standards of physiotherapy input and high quality of care to patients within MSK across Walsall.
- To help run exercise classes, support with the admin process and seeing patients
- As directed by the Physiotherapy Team leads, to have responsibility for the organisation and clerical administration of certain aspects of the service.
- To assist the physiotherapist in the co-ordination of other physiotherapy technical instructors and university students.
- To help with the admin team at Darlaston as required by the Team leads.
