Role summary

This is an exciting part-time opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Dietitian to work with adults with eating disorders within the Richardson Eating Disorder Intensive Day Service (RED IDS) in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role involves specialist dietetic assessment, treatment, and management of patients, acting as an expert in dietetics and nutrition support. You will also provide cover for community eating disorder services and inpatient beds, with opportunities for service development and working within multidisciplinary teams.

Essential criteria

  • Degree in Dietetics or Science/Nutrition Degree plus post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics which leads to eligibility to Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • Current valid registration as a Dietitian with the HCPC
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development including post graduate courses

Desirable criteria

  • Member of the British Dietetic Association and Mental Health Specialist Group
  • British Dietetic Association: Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group (PENG) course
  • Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults training
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • Post registration experience in general clinical dietetics and further post registration experience in one or more specialist areas
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience working in and presenting to groups
  • Evidence of participation in audit/research
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision for junior dietitians and mentoring students
  • Experience in the development of Dietetic services
  • A working knowledge of vulnerable adult and child protection issues
  • Knowledge of existing national guidance and key standards in eating disorders

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Specialist Dietitian who has an interest in working with adults with eating disorders.

The post is part time (18.75 working hours per week). You will work into the Richardson Eating Disorder Intensive Day Service (RED IDS) based at Benfield House in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Richardson Eating Disorder Intensive Day Service is a specialist service based at Benfield House, Walkergate Park Hospital. The service provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for eating disorders for men and women aged 18 and over living in the North East of England. Patients either attend at Walkergate Park or are seen intensively at home. The service also supports families and carers, and links with other services to help develop safe and effective pathways for patients.

You will join our trust wide Dietetics Service, which has over 30 dietitians, clinical support assistants and a dedicated admin team. We have excellent links to multidisciplinary teams and nutrition and health promotion initiatives across the Trust. We take great pride in how supportive we are as a team, our aim is to create an environment where every member of our team can succeed.
