Role summary
This role is for a Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or DBT Therapist to join an expanding specialist Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Service. The post holder will deliver specialist psychological interventions to people with complex emotional needs across Surrey and North-East Hampshire. It involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating psychological needs, as well as mentoring and supervising staff. The service is growing, offering opportunities to shape its future and work within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Essential criteria
- HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or DBT Therapist - PG Dip in DBT and core professional training (e.g. Nursing, Social work, OT), registered with appropriate professional registration body
- Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.
- Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
- Candidates should demonstrate experience of working with individuals with complex emotional needs
- Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists (Psychologists)
- Demonstrable post registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care group.
- Ability to manage difficult situations with service users that have complex presentations and/or behaviours that challenge, and to manage a demanding and complex caseload
- Demonstrable ability to remain calm and compassionate when faced with highly distressing situations.
- Knowledge and Experience of delivering DBT (DBT Therapist)
- It is essential to have a driving license and access to a vehicle for all community-based post where travel across sites and/or client visits are a significant part of the role
