Role summary
This role involves delivering vaccination programmes for school-aged children, housebound patients, and care home residents as part of the newly integrated Community Vaccination Service. The Healthcare Support Worker will administer selected vaccines, collect equipment, provide health promotion, engage with the community, and assist with delegated administrative tasks. The service aims to protect individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.
Key responsibilities
- Administering selected vaccines in schools, at community clinics, in care homes and in patient homes.
- Collecting vaccines and equipment from vaccine bases.
- Health promotion/Vaccine education.
- Community engagement.
- Delegated administration tasks as identified by the admin lead. Such as running reports, liaising with schools/service users, data collection.
Essential criteria
- Willing and able to apply existing experience and gain necessary skills to work effectively in the community, hospitals or other community settings, equivalent to a vocational level 3 qualification
- Willing to professionally develop and undertake further development / training as identified to meet the needs of the service, including Trust Band 3 Extended Skills programme and Care Certificate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
