Role summary
This role involves providing high-quality physiotherapy services to older adults with acute and chronic complex vascular and surgical conditions. Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapy
- Health and care professions council registration
- Broad range of junior experience across surgery, respiratory, orthopaedics, MSK, gerontology and neurology specialties
- Evidence of postgraduate continuing professional development in surgery
- An understanding of complex socioeconomic needs within the patient group, ability to assess risk and frailty
- Ability to work within a stressful and unpredictable environment with proven organisational skills, including prioritisation and delegation
- Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities and Health and Safety
- Able to carry out moderate physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities.
- Competent digital IT skills

- Previous experience of effectively managing vascular and surgical patients with complex comorbidities and high acuity including management of respiratory need
- Understands and applies the principles of equality, inclusivity and diversity to all aspects of clinical practice

- Participation in on-call and weekend rota.

Job summary
o To provide high quality, safe and effective physiotherapy services to older adults presenting with acute and chronic complex vascular and surgical conditions as part of a cohesive multi-professional team.
o To work collaboratively with patients and their carers to effectively assess, goal plan and treat patients following admission to hospital and strive to maximise their independence and quality of life.
o To supervise and teach recently qualified physiotherapists, support workers physiotherapy students
o To actively participate in quality improvement, clinical audit and research projects.
Main duties of the job
Deliver high-quality physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for patients with vascular and surgical conditions, developing evidence-based, patient-centred care plans and evaluating progress against agreed goals. Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team, using strategies to overcome communication barriers and support informed consent, mental capacity assessments and best-interest decisions where required.
