Role summary

This role is for a skilled Psychotherapist or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the relational therapy team at Newham Talking Therapies. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of online video and face-to-face clients, with flexibility in working hours. The position offers opportunities for professional development, including specialized training in relational-based modalities. Key responsibilities

  • Bring finely honed assessment and therapy skills tailored for a Talking Therapies service.
  • Manage a caseload of online video clients and face-to-face clients.
  • Attend clinics one day a week.
  • Commit to working a minimum of one evening per week.
  • Engage in specialized training in a relational-based NICE recommended modality (e.g., DIT or IPT) subject to funding.

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working with a wide range of Psychological problems in Primary Care/ IAPT settings
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology (HCPC registered)
  • Or Psychological therapist accredited with HCPC or UKPC
  • Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Has received training (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
  • Understanding of issues surrounding clinical risk
  • Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety disorders and depression and how these problems may present in Primary Care
