Role summary
This specialist role involves implementing the Trust's values within the Bladder & Bowel Specialist Service. The clinician will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adult patients with bladder and bowel dysfunction, providing holistic, high-quality care. Responsibilities include patient education, managing clinical caseloads, and supporting training programs for community teams. The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake holistic bladder and bowel assessments, planning, implementing and evaluating care primarily to the adult population.
- Provide bladder and bowel advice and education to professionals, patients, and carers.
- Manage own clinical caseload, including making modifications to treatment plans.
- Participate in and support training programs that promote continence care.
- Maintain accurate record keeping in accordance with professional body policy and data protection legislation.
- Provide mentorship for new members of the Continence team or pre and post registration student nurses / professionals.
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse / Registered Professional (BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy)
- Evidence of Continuous professional development
- 1 year post registration experience
- Must be able to demonstrate assessment and care planning skills in relation to continence care delivery
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding for the need for confidentiality in the workplace
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of equal opportunities in the workplace
- Must be able to work as part of a team
- Must be able to lone work within a community setting
- Must be a non-smoker whilst on duty
- Must have independent access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Must be willing to undertake a CRB disclosure to enhanced standard
- Must be legally entitled to work in this country

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic clinician who is passionate about patients with continence issues. With health promotion being at the forefront of care delivery we are a service which aims to achieve a positive difference to patients' suffering from bladder and bowel dysfunction.
As a Clinical practitioner you will have proven organisational, management and computer skills as well as being able to work collaboratively with other members of the Bladder & Bowel Specialist team in delivering a holistic high quality of care. You will be supporting patients, carers, family members by assessing and developing individual plans of care, providing teaching and initiating management strategies. This would include pelvic floor exercise plans, bladder retraining, and bladder scanning and bowel irrigation, reviewing of plans and liaising with other multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams.
