Role summary
This is an internal opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to lead the Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team. Key responsibilities
- Provide clinical and operational leadership to the Lung Cancer CNS Team.
- Deliver expert care, support and advice for patients with suspected or confirmed lung cancer.
- Coordinate patient care across the cancer pathway, ensuring timely access to treatment and support services.
- Act as a key worker and advocate for patients and their families.
- Lead holistic needs assessments, personalised care planning and supportive care interventions.
- Line manage, support and develop the specialist nursing team.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (NMC)
- Degree in Relevant Subject or Equivalent
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Advanced communication skills training
- Significant recent experience in Lung Cancer Nursing or related cancer speciality
- Leadership, management or supervision experience
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Experience of service development and quality improvement
- Experience of teaching and supporting staff
- Knowledge of lung cancer pathways and treatments
- Knowledge of national cancer standards and personalised care
- understanding of evidence based and clinical governance
Desirable criteria
- Masters Level Study or Equivalent
- Leadership or Management Qualification
- Non Medical Prescribing Qualification
- Experience of audit and research
- Experience of clinical supervision
- Knowledge of palliative care and symptom management
- Level 2 psychology support Skills or willingness to undertake
