Role summary
This role is for a Registered Practitioner in Theatres, working 24/7, 365 days a year on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, on calls, Bank Holidays, and weekends. You will be responsible for preparing the theatre, sterile equipment, and patients for a variety of elective and emergency procedures. The post holder will work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and will be flexible to work across all theatre areas, including the QE2. On-call and out-of-hours work is required to provide emergency access for acutely ill patients.

- Must be willing to undertake post registration courses as advised by the Practice Educators/Theatre team Leaders

- Relevant experience in either an inpatient or day surgery theatre, maternity theatre or other clinical area
- Experience of providing clinical support outside of the theatre area
- Peri-operative practice, skilled in scrub

- Ability to demonstrate initiative
- Flexible
- Good planning skills
- Clear written and spoken English
- Aware of the National 6 Cs campaign

We are recruiting for Registered Practitioner - Theatres, who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
Our service now includes admission and recovery of elective patients and a continued emergency service for the Trust. Our team works 24/7, 365 days a year. As part of a rotation with other team members, you'll be expected to work evenings, nights, on calls, Bank Holidays, and weekends.
This role is within Theatres, there is an expectation to be rotated across all theatre areas including the QE2 to assist and care for patients undergoing a variety of elective (Vascular, Orthopaedics, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynae, Plastics, Robotics, ENT, Oral Surgery, Ophthalmology, General Surgery) and Emergency procedures.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedure.
You will be responsible for preparing the Theatre for surgery and preparing sterile equipment/ supplies and keep waste to a minimum.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparation, safe use, decontamination, troubleshooting and reporting of faulty complex equipment.
