Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Inpatient Stroke and Rehabilitation Team. The post involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders, creating personalised treatment plans, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will also be responsible for clinical supervision and mentorship of junior staff and students, contributing to service improvement through audits and maintaining high professional standards.
Essential criteria
- oEvidence of CPD (portfolio) detailing clinical experience relevant to the post
- oKnowledge of current NHS strategy and plans
- oKnowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance
- oEvidence of Specialist level of clinical reasoning
- oKnowledge of current Evidence Based Practice relevant to post
- oExcellent written and verbal communication skills
- oEvidence of leadership ability
- oAnalytical and problem solving skills
- oOrganisation, planning, prioritisation, and decision making skills
- oClinical supervision, teaching skills and appraisal skills
- oIT skills relevant to the role
- oAs required for entry into university for professional training
- oDegree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
- oRegistered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Inpatient Stroke and Rehabilitation Team.
The post is full time 37.5 hours, across Monday to Friday with participation in a weekend rota.
This service provides therapy to stroke patients in the inpatient setting
Our Stroke and Rehabilitation team is a friendly and dynamic group of Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy support workers, Assistant Practitioners and Dietitian.As such, this role offers a great opportunity to work with a broad range of professions to drive forward excellent integrated stroke care for the patient's we serve.
The successful candidate must have experience of working with adults with complex acquired disorders of communication and swallowing. We are looking for an individual who has an excellent understanding of evidenced based-practice within the speciality of stroke rehabilitation. The ability to influence and implement best-practice, to ensure we are continuously improving the quality of services provided to patients across the pathways.
