Role summary
Join a busy team of Medical Secretaries at Southport or Ormskirk Hospital, supporting Consultants and their teams. This role involves managing diaries, handling correspondence, and acting as a first point of contact for patients and external organisations. You will need strong organisational skills and experience in a medical office environment. On-the-job training and development opportunities are available.
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent in administrative discipline
- RSA II / III Typing or Word Processing or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL
- British Society of Medical Secretaries Diploma or Advanced AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent experience

- Previous secretarial experience
- Previous medical secretary experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrable skills in problem solving
- Previous NHS experience
- Audio and touch typing with a high level of accuracy
- Good communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Able to use own initiative
- Ability to work in a pressured environment and prioritise workload
- Ability to maintain high levels of concentration with frequent interruptions

Job summary
Come and join our busy team of Medical Secretaries based in either Southport or Ormskirk Hospital sites. We are looking for experienced Medical Secretaries with a background in healthcare to join our existing team. We offer on the job training and support from our teams alongside a Trust which can offer ongoing learning and apprenticeships, so that all our staff have the opportunity to fulfil their true potential.
We have the following vacancies currently available:
30 hours in gynaecology, working Tuesday to Friday based at Ormskirk Hospital
30 hours in general surgery/vascular, working Tuesday to Friday based at Southport Hospital
