Role summary
This role is for an experienced and qualified mechanical engineer to join the Estates department at Westmorland General Hospital. The successful candidate will perform mechanical maintenance on heating, pressure, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and medical gas systems within NHS properties. Key responsibilities

- Self-motivate and work relatively unsupervised.

Essential criteria
- Full apprenticeship or equivalent approved training.
- NVQ3, BTEC or Equivalent
- Driving licence (B)
- AP/CP training in related subjects
- Knowledge/experience of MTHW systems, plant and other pressure systems
- Experience of safe systems of work in a mechanical setting
- Experience of mechanical manufacturing processes
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with other members of the department, other (non technical) Trust staff, patients, visitors, public utilities and emergency services as required.
- Ability to deal with information sensitively and confidentially.
- Computer literate
- Ability to comply with the Trust's policies.
- Ability to travel between the Trust sites as required.
- To demonstrate flexibility in approach to work patterns.
Desirable criteria
- City and Guild qualifications in relevant subjects.
- Certificate in Ventilation Safety (CP - HTM03)
- Certificate in Hot & Cold Water Systems (BS2/H)
- Certificate in Disinfection of Water Supplies (WN18)
- Experience of BMS systems
- Experience with A/C plant
- Knowledge/experience of MGPS
- Experience of hospital systems and equipment, policies and procedures especially HTM's and relevant DOH guidance.
- Ability to lead/train others.
