Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Children's Staff Nurse to join the Emergency Department team. The role involves delivering high standards of care, assessing and evaluating patient care, and contributing to the development of others through supervision and mentoring. You will work in a fast-paced clinical area with excellent learning and development opportunities. The position offers the chance to work across both John Radcliffe Hospital and Horton General Hospital sites.
Essential criteria
- Articulate and knowledgeable of skills needed to deliver a high standard of care in the area of practice.
- Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role
- Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
- Able to document observations, results, decisions and actions etc. effectively in patient's notes and communicate these effectively to appropriate members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Able to proactively contribute to the education of learners and non-registered and less experienced staff.
- Experience of working in an emergency department or childrens ward
Desirable criteria
- Competent to administer intravenous medicines
- Education, training and qualifications
- UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post
- Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC revalidation.
- Registered Childrens Nurse
- Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice.
- Evidence of achievement on a Nursing and Midwifery, (NMC) approved Mentorship qualification.

- Able to demonstrate the ability to put patients at the heart of what you do and recognising different needs by encouraging a spirit of support, integrity, respect and teamwork.
