Role summary
This role is for an experienced and self-motivated Senior Medical Secretary to provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Respiratory Team within the Medical Directorate. The successful candidate will manage their own workload, demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and maintain accurate records. They will also guide and supervise the admin team, ensuring the smooth running of the department. The position requires strong communication skills, discretion, and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Business administration L4 or equivalent experience Or City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3Diploma in Medical administration or equivalent medical secretary experience
- RSA /OCR level 3 or equivalent experience or qualification in typing
- ECDL or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Management qualification or working towards
- NVQ 3 Customer Service
- Experience of coordinating administration activities.
- Experience of working as a medical secretary
- Experience of organising workload and people
- Previous NHS Experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Advanced typing skills
- Will work unsupervised
- Excellent organisational skills
- Will prioritise own workload
- Minute taking experience
- Evidence of Continual Personal development
- Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft office applications
- ESR Self Service (or equivalent experience using it)
- Knowledge of Referral To Treatment process (RTT)
- Good team working ethic
- Enthusiasm and commitment
- Proactive and positive attitude
- Be innovative to meet the challenges of a changing organisation

Job summary
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING
If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced secretary to provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Respiratory Team within the Medical Directorate.It is essential that applicants possess a high level of sound typing skills, hold a Medical Secretarial Qualification and qualify for at least RSA Stage 3 (or equivalent).
The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative and be able to work as part of a team.
The post holder will be able to work within time constraints and be able to meet a deadline while being able to demonstrate good organisational skills and the ability to maintain good and reliable records.
The post-holder will need to have previous Medical Secretary Experience, possess excellent time management skills, be well organised and have the ability to prioritise workload demands to meet strict deadlines, whilst producing work to the highest standards.
