Role summary
This is an exciting full-time opportunity to join the Bowel Cancer Screening Team at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. The role involves supporting the bowel cancer screening programme across Berkshire, working with patients from both East and West Berkshire. You will be responsible for using the Bowel Cancer System to transfer referrals and provide administrative support to Screening Practitioners. The ideal candidate will be approachable, patient-focused, organised, and able to manage a varied workload.
Essential criteria
- Good education to GCSE standard or equivalent to reflect numeracy and literacy skills
- Experience of working in a hospital or busy office environment
- Significant experience in difficult customer facing situations
- Experience of working to exacting deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Previous use of hospital patient administration system
- Skills & knowledge
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally to patients, staff/stakeholders at different levels.
- Ability to prioritise, use own initiative and make decisions
- Able to make non routine decisions
- Awareness of the data protection act
- Knowledge of NHS targets and/or willingness to learn
- Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally to patients, staff/stakeholders at different levels
- Wish to extend computer skills
- Specail requirements
- Ability to travel to other sites
- Driving licence and own car an advantage

Join Our Bowel Cancer Screening Team
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bowel Cancer Screening Team, based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, on a full-time basis.
The role supports the bowel cancer screening programme across Berkshire, working with patients from both East and West Berkshire.
