Key responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management and delivery of Breast Screening and symptomatic administrative services.
  • Help manage and support the administrative team, coordinate workloads, and ensure screening pathways are managed effectively.
  • Monitor service performance, maintain accurate screening data, and support the preparation, analysis, and submission of KPIs, audits, and statutory reports.
  • Have responsibility for key information systems, including NBSS and BS-Select.
  • Contribute to administrative quality assurance, staff training, service improvement, and the development and maintenance of procedures.
  • Support staff management, including workload allocation, rostering, sickness and annual leave, training, appraisal and development, and deputise for the Screening Office Manager when required.

Essential criteria

  • Ability and expertise in the proficient use of NBSS and BS-Select computer systems
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams, senior managers and commissioners.
  • Evidence of working with IT systems, including as System Administrator, where the production of data accuracy and data completeness are paramount.
  • Competence in statistical analysis and clinical audit.
  • Experience of staff and office management
  • Experience of System Quality Management, ie. developing, writing and maintaining protocols/procedures.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Office Manager to join the Breast Screening Unit. The post holder will support the Screening Office Manager, Programme Manager and wider multidisciplinary team in the effective day-to-day management and development of administrative services across breast screening and symptomatic imaging.

This key role includes supporting and supervising the administrative team, coordinating screening pathways, call/recall and failsafe processes, and helping to ensure NHS Breast Screening Programme standards and performance targets are achieved.

The role has a strong focus on data quality, performance monitoring and reporting, including KPIs and statutory audits, alongside supporting key screening systems such as NBSS and BS-Select.

We are looking for an organised, proactive and motivated individual with strong leadership, communication and analytical skills who can manage competing priorities in a busy service. The post holder will deputise for the Screening Office Manager when required and contribute to the continued quality, performance and development of the Breast Imaging Service.
