Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Band 6 Cath Lab / General Radiographer at Eastbourne District General Hospital. You will join an expanding team providing a wide range of imaging services, with dedicated sessions in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory. The position involves supporting diagnostic angiography, pacemaker implantation, PCI, and various interventional cardiac procedures. You will also participate in a 24-hour, 365-day service for Trauma and General Radiography, including out-of-hours and on-call duties. This is a fixed-term position for 6 months.
Essential criteria
- BSC Honours Diagnostic Radiographer / DCR or equivalent (Grade 2.2 or above only)
- Evidence of continued professional development to post graduate diploma level or equivalent knowledge and skills
- HPC Registration
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- Training in supervisory skills
- Staff management / supervisory training / skills
- Post graduate short courses or other training in relevant subject
- Evidence of participation in all elements of Clinical Governance
- Previous experience of working in an imaging department providing a variety of imaging services to an advanced level of practice
- Experience in Cardiac cath lab
- Experience in Interventional Radiology
- Evidence of supervisory experience within complex clinical imaging environment
- Evidence of staff training and mentoring
- Staff and resource management experience
- Skills, knowledge and Abilities
- Competence across a range of imaging skills supported by professional and specialist knowledge
- Possess equipment and medical devices competences
- Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and non-verbal
- Ability to act as an autonomous and accountable practitioner
- Clinical supervision and mentoring IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 1999
- Excellent imaging skills
- RIS/PACS systems awareness and literacy
- Able to undertake self audit
- Understanding of service improvement techniques and toolkits and national agendas around service delivery
- Business development skills e.g. creation of business cases
- Able to commission new imaging equipment
- Able to carry out routine maintenance of equipment within scope of practice
- Other specialised area of knowledge that will significantly aid Departmental management eg Health and Safety, Risk Management, Student Clinical co-ordinator

Home to some of Sussex's finest coastline and countryside, we are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Cath Lab / General Radiographer to join our expanding team at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
Eastbourne is a vibrant seaside town serving a large and diverse catchment area, with excellent transport links--just 45 minutes to Brighton and 1.5 hours to London by train.
Our Imaging Department provides a wide range of services including General Radiography, A&E, Fluoroscopy and Theatre imaging. This post includes dedicated sessions within our busy Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory , supporting diagnostic angiography, pacemaker and device implantation, PCI, and a variety of interventional cardiac procedures. Rotation to other imaging modalities may also be available to support professional development.
Our Cath Lab and Radiology Departments are equipped with modern, high-quality imaging technology, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for both patients and staff.
