Role summary
This is an exciting development opportunity for an experienced radiographer to become a Clinical Specialist Radiographer at The Royal London & Mile End Hospitals. The role involves working within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the safe and effective running of the imaging department, and specializing in either MRI or IR while rotating through X-ray and CT. The post holder will also have a leadership role, supervising junior staff and ensuring high-quality patient care and experience.
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalents
- Health and Care Professions Council Registration
- Evidence of career-long commitment to CPD
- Postgraduate study in a relevant area
Desirable criteria
- Student Clinical Assessors Course
- College of Radiographers accredited IV cannulation course
- Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
- Able to work unsupervised
- Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.
- Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality
- Completion of preceptorship
- Experience of on-call and out of hours roster
- Leadership and mentoring experience
- CT/MRI and/or Interventional Radiography experience.
- Previous experience as Band 7 radiographer.
- Experience of training staff and students.
- Demonstrates ongoing CPD.
- Experience of participating in HR processes such as performing appraisal and investigations
- Knowledge/Skills
- Clinical and technical expert in XX modality
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff.
- Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
- Ability to cope with conflict and complaints at local level commensurate with Trust policies
- Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
- Ability to work using own initiative but also to know when to seek assistance and guidance.
- Basic computer and keyboard skills.
- Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
- Self-motivated with an ability to motivate others
- Able to work flexibly based on needs of service.
- Intermediate IT skills.

Royal London Hospital is home to the London Air Ambulance. It's one of the capital's leading trauma & stroke centres and houses one of the largest children's hospitals in the UK.
