Role summary
Join the CLCH SLT education team as a Speech and Language Therapist, working with children and young people in mainstream schools across Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. This role involves managing your own caseload, assessing communication needs, and delivering therapy as specified in Education Health and Care Plans. You will provide professional advice for statutory assessments and contribute to annual reviews. The team is looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills and experience with school-aged children.
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practice - Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT
- Working with children in clinics and/or school based settings
Desirable criteria
- Experience Training others
- Working with multi-cultural client groups
- Excellent communication skills both verbal, non-verbal and written
- Working in collaboration with children and young people, parents/carers and families
- Ability to adapt communication skills to meet the needs of others
- Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment diagnosis and treatment of children with a broad range of speech, language and communication difficulties
- Good auditory discrimination skills and ability to transcribe speech phonetically
- Knowledge of appropriate range of assessments and interventions for children with Speech, Language and Communication needs and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits to individual children
- Awareness of national policies and procedures (relevant to school aged children) including education practice and policy
- Knowledge of professional standards of record keeping
- Working in partnership with other members of the MDT
- To be able to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity and awareness of the needs of others
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Knowledge of religious, cultural and linguistic issues impacting upon caseload management
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance
- Knowledge of principles and models of Adult-Child Interaction

We have an opportunity for a NQP's or experienced Band 5 therapist to join the SLT education team.
The post includes working with a varied caseload across mainstream schools in the inner London boroughs of Westminster, and Kensington & Chelsea.
We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, and an interest and experience of working with school-aged children and young people.

Main duties of the job
- To manage and prioritise own caseload independently, generating appropriate strategies for caseload management.
- To assess the need for, develop, and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred within locality, and provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties as required within the role.
- To assess children's language and communication needs, and provide professional advice to contribute to statutory assessments (Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessments) and the annual review process for individual children in line with the Children and Families Act 2014.
