Role summary
This role involves delivering specialised clinical care, primarily assessing children and young people for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) virtually, in line with NICE guidance. The post holder will support the Clinical Team Lead in developing the ADHD assessment pathway and provide clinical supervision. It sits within the wider Children's Neurodevelopmental Team, where knowledge of autism is also desirable. The role requires adherence to professional and regulatory body codes and evidence-based practice.
Essential criteria
- Registered with appropriate clinical professional body: e.g. Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy or Psychology (Educational, Counselling, Clinical or Forensic) and be registered with the relevant statutory body (NMC, HCPC, ACP, BABCP, UKCP, SWE, SCW, SSSC or NISCC or BACP).
- Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation and guidance relevant to working with Children. e.g. Children's NSF, Children Act, Every Child Matters, Education Act, Code of Practice
- Skills and Competencies
- Effective inter-personal skills
- Able to communicate effectively and sensitively with children and their carers

- Experience in supervising and mentoring and teaching
- Evidence of suitable post-registration professional practice, in hospital or other healthcare setting
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to professional group
- Demonstratable track record of assessing ADHD using recommended tools

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for delivering specialised clinical care to their own caseload and service within their speciality area. This role will predominantly involve assessing children and young people for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in line with NICE guidance.
