Role summary
Join our team as a Cook at Ripley Community Hospital, working 30 hours over 5 days on a 7-day rota. You will be responsible for providing patient meal services, ensuring quality, temperature, and adherence to food hygiene legislation. The role involves maintaining hygiene standards, assisting with patient meals and menus, and acting as a contact point between catering and wards for dietary requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure Food Hygiene Regulations and procedures are adhered to and regular checks and audits are undertaken.
- Predict daily catering demands and be responsible for the ordering of provisions and materials.
- Monitor meals produced for quality and appearance and undertake meal surveys.
- Collating menus and other catering requirements daily, considering dietary needs and ensuring sufficient resources.
- Ensure a quality and nutritious patient meal service is provided at all times.
- Participate in the cooks rota in the daily production of all meals.
Essential criteria
- City & Guilds NVQ 3 or equivalent
- Basic Food Hygiene
- Knowledge of work procedures, practices and equipment for a catering service including advanced food hygiene processes
- Previous experience within a catering environment
Desirable criteria
- Basic Health and Safety
- Knowledge and understanding of special dietary needs

Job summary
Do you want to make a difference? If so, an opportunity has arisen for you to join our team as a Cook at Ripley Community Hospital working 30 hrs over a 5 days on a 7 day Rota .
You will be responsible for the provision of the patient meal service, carried out by undertaking approved processes and procedures, to ensure the quality and temperature of meals at service are safe and appropriate and within the guidelines of Food Hygiene Legislation.
You will be expected to maintain the required hygiene standards and safe systems of work.
Part of your role will also be to provide assistance and information, as required, in respect of patient meals and menus and to provide a point of contact between the catering provision and the wards to identify any issues or specific dietary requirements.
