Role summary
This is a part-time Band 3 Senior Nursing Assistant role within the HIV Service at the Ian Charleson Day Centre (ICDC), part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred HIV care. Responsibilities include direct patient care, clinical support activities, and delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role offers opportunities for skill development and contribution to clinic and day care services.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent/New Diploma Level 3 or equivalent
- Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE C or equivalent
- Committed to own personal development and evidence of regular attendance at training days
Desirable criteria
- Completion of Assessor training
- Previous experience of working with patients in a hospital environment
- Previous experience of team work
- Previous experience of customer care
- Skills and aptitudes
- Competent in performing investigations & procedures e.g. ECGs, simple dressings
- Expert in performing phlebotomy
- Ability to learn new skills quickly
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload
- Ability to communicate and present written information clearly
- Basic computer / keyboard skills
- Ability to understand and undertake monitoring of patients' vital signs
- Cannulation skills
- Personal Qualities & attributes
- Has a caring, compassionate and professional nature
- Committed to developing self and others
- Diplomatic and calm
- Ability to work as a team and form professional relationships with colleagues
- Non-judgemental attitude

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Band 3 Senior Nursing Assistant to join the HIV Service at the Ian Charleson Day Centre (ICDC), part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
ICDC is one of the UK's largest HIV outpatient services, providing specialist care to more than 3,400 people living with HIV. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and who enjoys working within a busy, supportive multidisciplinary team.
As a Senior Nursing Assistant, you will work alongside nurses, doctors, pharmacists and administrative colleagues to support the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred HIV care. The role involves both direct patient care and clinical support activities, helping to ensure a positive experience for patients attending the service.
You will undertake a range of delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a registered nurse and will have opportunities to develop new skills and contribute to the smooth running of our clinics and day care services.
