Role summary
The Theatre Care Assistant will support theatre practitioners and multi-disciplinary staff within the theatre environment during the peri-operative phase. This role involves providing effective patient-centred care, implementing care plans, and assisting with clinical procedures and protocols. Key responsibilities
- Actively support theatre practitioners and multi-disciplinary staff within the theatre environment throughout the peri operative phase.
- Provide effective patient centred care implementing care that meet the needs of the patients and their families/carers.
- Support staff in Clinical procedures, protocols and guidelines to ensure effective service delivery.
- Monitor patients vital signs as directed by qualified members of staff.
- Complete patient documentation and care plans, ensuring clinical pathways are followed.
- Assist direct patient care by monitoring vital signs in the recovery room, reporting back to the registered practitioner.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 or above in Healthcare or equivalent demonstrable experience within a Theatre setting
- GCSE Level or equivalent in English and Maths
- Knowledge of personal care
- Previous experience of working in a care assistant role
- Knowledge and understanding of the Theatre Care Assistant role and responsibilities
- Experience working in a Healthcare setting
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to accept direction and guidance in the role
- Aware of own limitations
- Flexible working hours
- Basic IT skills
- Ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplinary team
- Physically able to perform the full range of TCA duties.
- Dexterity and accuracy in undertaking clinical skills, use of equipment and documentation. Moving and Handling of patients.
